A brief prayer is offered that you can add to your daily
prayers this week. The scripture is from our Sunday Service Bulletin for
today. We are continuing a summer sermon
series on Psalms.
OT READING: Psalm 121
(English Standard Version)
I lift up my eyes to the hills.
From
where does my help come?
2 My help comes from the Lord,
who made
heaven and earth.
3 He will not let your foot be moved;
he
who keeps you will not slumber.
4 Behold, he who keeps Israel
will
neither slumber nor sleep.
5 The Lord is your keeper;
the Lord is
your shade on your right hand.
6 The sun shall not strike you by day,
nor
the moon by night.
7 The Lord will keep you
from all evil;
he
will keep your life.
8 The Lord will keep
your going
out and your coming in
from
this time forth and forevermore.
Devotion: Don’t Look
Down!!
Have you ever heard that old expression, “don’t look down”?
People that are afraid of heights are told this so they that they can try to avoid
the fear. I like the way this passage starts with that same advice: “I lift my
eyes unto the hills”. We are all pilgrims on a journey to our heavenly home and
this Psalm tells us to focus on the Lord. When the things that are happening
here on earth fill you with disgust, disappointment, sadness, loneliness or just
plain wear you out—stop looking down!! Get your eyes up toward home, Pilgrim!
The Lord is looking out for you 24/7. You can do this!
We pray: Lord thank
you for your everlasting love. Amen
