Voices from the Edge

Advent has long been a time of preparation, preparation for the celebration of Christmas. Yet the road to Christmas is anything but easy. It twists, it turns, and we meet many strange figures along the way. Prophets cry out in visions. John the Baptizer preaches in the desert. Angels appear whether you are asleep or awake. The voices are varied, the places are strange, but one thing is certain: in each encounter, God is preparing us for the celebration of the greatest encounter of all, the birth of Jesus, his Son, our Savior, the Redeemer of the world.

Habakkuk

We live in evil times. Wars, structural meltdowns, poverty and despair cover our world. Yet all this is not new. Evil has accompanied us throughout history. The prophet Habakkuk knew of evil and looked for God. As we study this conversation between God and man may we learn of true hope in evil times.

In this sermon series we will look at the ways that this facility can be used to the Glory of God. May it truly be a Space to worship, serve, fellowship and grow.  With God in charge of it all.

Advent 2008

The Old Testament spoke of the “Coming One”, thus we celebrate the advent, the coming, of the Babe of Bethlehem, Jesus Christ. But the Church is bracketed between “comings”, so in this Advent season, we also anticipate Christ’s promised second coming in judgment. Finally, by his Word, we experience Christ’s continuous coming to strengthen His people.

The Bucket List

What’s on your bucket list?

In the Rob Reiner film, “The Bucket List”, two cancer patients embark upon an end of life journey.

In the movie, the bucket list is “… a list of all the things we wanted to do in life before we kick the bucket.” What do people think of at the end of life? What makes their journey complete? What’s on your bucket list? Don’t go through the seasons of life without contemplating these questions.

The Bucket List Provoking sermons on life’s incredible journey.
